Overview Burg-Dog Grill

Discover Burg-Dog Grill, a no-frills American burger and hot-dog spot at 150 Holden Beach Rd SW, South Brunswick, NC 28470, United States. Known locally for old-fashioned griddle cooking, quick service, and affordable portions, Burg-Dog Grill is built around a refreshingly simple idea: make classic burgers, hot dogs, and fries well without overcomplicating the experience. For travelers heading toward Holden Beach or diners exploring local dining experiences around South Brunswick and Shallotte, it is an easy lunch stop with plenty of hometown character.

The Double Cheeseburger is one of the strongest reasons to visit. Rather than chasing elaborate gourmet toppings, the restaurant serves the kind of straightforward American burger many diners associate with an old-school roadside grill. Beef patties, melted cheese, and traditional toppings come together in a filling package that customers repeatedly praise for freshness and flavor. One recent diner described it simply as a “good old fashioned, cheeseburger,” while another praised the burgers for being properly cooked without feeling excessively greasy.

The Hot Dog All the Way is equally important to the Burg-Dog Grill identity. Carolina-style toppings bring chili, mustard, onions, and slaw together, producing a satisfying balance of savory, tangy, slightly sweet, and creamy flavors. Customer feedback specifically highlights the hand-grated slaw and how well its sweetness complements the chili. Chili Cheese Dogs and Sausage Dogs offer heartier variations for diners wanting something beyond the basic version.

Another popular order is the Chili Cheeseburger, especially with mustard, onions, and dill pickles. Paired with hot crinkle-cut fries, it delivers exactly the kind of uncomplicated comfort food this restaurant does best. Prices remain budget-friendly: one recent customer reported paying about $23 for two double cheeseburgers, fries, and two drinks. Burg-Dog Grill is generally categorized in the inexpensive “$” range.

The atmosphere is small, casual, and distinctly old-school. Counter ordering and very fast turnaround make it better for a quick lunch than a leisurely restaurant experience. Seating and takeaway are available, along with wheelchair accessibility. The restaurant has also been reported as cash-only, with an ATM available inside. For pet owners, two outdoor tables allow dogs to accompany guests outside while someone orders indoors.

Customer sentiment is especially strong around speed, cleanliness, and value. One regular summarized the experience as “Clean, friendly, fast, and affordable,” while other reviewers mention driving significant distances specifically for the burgers and hot dogs.

Among the best restaurants in South Brunswick for simple American comfort food, Burg-Dog Grill succeeds by staying focused. Come for a double cheeseburger, Carolina-style hot dog, and crispy fries, then enjoy the friendly, uncomplicated character of a genuine neighborhood grill.

Great cheese burger, crispy fries and fresh iced tea. Fast service, busy at lunch time, 5 people on line and still had my food and drink within 7 minutes. They've got a great thing going on here. Great lunch stop.

Great burgers and hot dogs! I tried a hamburger and a hot dog. The burger all the way and a hot dog all the way with slaw. The burger was very moist and had a great texture. Steamed buns take everything to the next level. The chili is very meaty. Slaw is hand grated and just slightly sweet. It compliments the chili really well. As others have noted, it’s cash only. The fries are crinkle cut, which isn’t my favorite, but served hot and crispy making them good.

Great place for burgers dogs and fries, ultra quick service, even when they’re busy. Cash only. My only issue is whatever they season the burgers with, there was too much of it, very salty. Couldn’t finish my burger last trip because of it.

**CASH ONLY!** The Burg-Dog Grille of Shallotte is a great place to grab some good hotdogs, a solid burger, and great crinkle cut fries. The menu is limited, but that means that they have perfected everything!! If you're hungry, you may need to get two hot dogs. They are great, but aren't the biggest. The crinkle cut fries are standard hot dog establishment fries. Soft on the inside, crisp on the outside, you can't go wrong. The tea is weak and is a bit watery. The restrooms are clean but are old. When it's busy, you may have to wait for a table. You stand in line to order and then grab a table, so the line may be about 10 mins max. The service is great! They know what they're doing and are efficient. Just make the tea better! (Please note: I am moving my reviews from Yelp to Google, so you may also see this review on Yelp. I visited this business May 2026.

First time here and will definitely be back. The hamburger and hotdogs were excellent. I got my food to go and it was ready before I had even closed my wallet. Very friendly staff!

Haven’t been here close to three years, but dropped in this previous Saturday, line was almost out the door, but once my order was in, literally not a minute later me and my friends order was ready. Two double cheeseburgers, a fry, and two drinks, it totaled to around 23 dollars, which to me is fine, as when it comes to good food, I’m not stingy with my coins. Still taste exactly how I remember, which is just a good old fashioned, cheeseburger. Not greasy, nor guilt feeling afterwards either. Be advised though, they only do cash, but there is an ATM inside.

I wasn’t overly impressed. Cash only always turns me off but the person I was with wanted to try this place. It is 2018 people, accept credit cards please. I had hotdogs and they were OK. Nothing to brag about. The fries needed salt on them as they were very bland but cooked well. The person I was with said their burger was really good. Perhaps I will try that if I ever end up back at this place.
